The sign outside the store says ‘temporary closure’. I was driving though, so I was too far away to see what the smaller text said.

The good news is that the technicians were taken on by SimplyFixIt to help bolster our Apple team. Unfortunately we weren’t able to give everyone a job, but we did recruit as many as we could.

    That’s good to hear.

The whole thing was remarkably sudden, I was just about to drop a mac in for service that morning when I rang to ask about opening hours and heard the bad news.

The word on the street is there has been movement in the past few weeks in the building on Princes Street where the Apple Store will be, which is good news. It’s pretty rough not having an authorised service provider in Edinburgh incase issues do pop up.

If that’s the site opposite the Balmoral it would be a great location, convenient for everything, pretty much.
I do remember that there was another site being talked about in connection with Apple further along, but I think New Look took it a few months back.

In the end I sent my iMac off via AppleCare to Opal in Newcastle, who collected it and replaced the hard drive inside of 4 days. It was amazingly quick.
