Snow Leopard Support

Version 1.6 of SQLEditor has now been released and is compatible with Mac OS X 10.6

This page is for details of the Snow Leopard compatible version of SQLEditor.

SQLEditor 1.4.7 is incompatible with Snow Leopard. This is because Snow Leopard uses a particular part of Mac OS X which has been removed in 10.6. There will be a blog post soon about exactly what this involved.

This is not unexpected and we believe that Apple did the right thing here (even though it has caused a few problems for SQLEditor).

What this means is that we had to rewrite SQLEditor to work without the removed parts of the operating system.

SQLEditor 1.6

SQLEditor 1.6 has been rewritten to work correctly on Mac OS X 10.6. It also works on 10.4 and 10.5 too.

Several major parts of SQLEditor have been rewritten entirely and now contain entirely new code.
We've attempted to duplicate the functionality but there may be some subtle differences in how the two version behave.

In particular the old SQL parser had to be rewritten, so there are probably pieces of SQL that the old parser would accept but that the new parser doesn't. If you find examples of this, please report them.

(All of our test cases currently pass; but then they would, wouldn't they?)

Please report any issues that you find to support@malcolmhardie.com
